More than a third of Sweden’s population is considering giving up their smartphones and returning to good old button phones, reports SVT Kulturnyheterna. The research was conducted by Novus on behalf of Swedish writer Jonas Gren — the author of the book “Ingen surf” (“No Internet”).
According to the survey, 28% of respondents are already ready or planning to replace their smartphones with regular phones that have no internet access. The numbers are particularly alarming among young people: 6 out of 10 respondents aged 18–34 believe they spend too much time online.
According to Gren, this reflects a growing sense of digital fatigue — society is overwhelmed by screens, notifications, and the endless online stream.
For us, this trend sends a clear signal: Great People are not “against” the internet — we stand for a more mindful digital environment. People don’t want to abandon the digital world, they want to bring back meaning and balance.
That’s why modern web design shouldn’t capture attention at any cost — it should treat it with care: helping users focus, rest their eyes, and feel in control of their time online.
If users are choosing “less screen time,” it means the internet itself needs to grow up — to become quieter, cleaner, and more human.
