We worked on UX/UI design for Epiroc, a global company specializing in rock excavation and drilling solutions. Operators configure and program drilling machines directly on site, often in demanding industrial environments. Our focus was to simplify complex workflows, reduce the risk of errors, and create a clear, efficient interface tailored to real-world operational conditions.
We developed a detailed Customer Journey Map (CJ) to understand the operator’s experience — from task setup to machine execution. Based on these insights, we created interactive prototypes, tested real-life usage scenarios, and optimized the interaction logic. This helped reduce unnecessary steps and made the machine programming process more intuitive and efficient.
We designed a custom icon system specifically for operators. The icons were created with harsh working conditions in mind — dust, vibration, gloves, and time pressure. The result is a clear, functional, and highly recognizable visual language that improves navigation speed and operational accuracy.
